Midyear Reflections on Gratitude and Grace
As we stand at the midpoint of the year, it is only fitting to pause, reflect, and thank the One who has carried us. Thanksgiving is not just a church event—it is a sacred posture of the heart. It is the language of the grateful, the anthem of those who recognize the hand of God in their journey.
From January till now, we have experienced His mercy, grace, and provision in ways too numerous to count. We may not have everything we hoped for, but we have everything we need: the breath in our lungs, the peace in our minds, the strength to rise, and the love of God that never fails.
Thanksgiving is our response to God’s unwavering faithfulness—even in the storms. It is the joyful noise of hearts that remember, honor, and adore the Giver more than the gifts.
In Scripture, we are constantly reminded of the power and necessity of thanksgiving:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.”
— Psalm 100:4 (NIV)
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
— Psalm 103:2 (KJV)
In this season of our Midyear Thanksgiving, let our worship rise from a deep well of gratitude. Let us recount our blessings—big and small—and celebrate the God who brought us through valleys, opened doors, healed wounds, and lit our path in the darkness.
Let our thanksgiving be cultural, communal, and deeply spiritual. Let every song, dance, attire, and offering echo one truth: God has been good to us.
So we come not with empty hands or distracted hearts, but with full spirits, joyful praise, and a readiness to honor the One who holds our tomorrow.
May this thanksgiving not only mark the middle of the year, but also ignite a lifestyle of continual praise.
