Welcome to Missionary Mentorship Ministry!

The Great Commission

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature…’ (Mark 16:15).” This command from Jesus is the heartbeat of missions, inspiring countless men and women to leave their comfort zones to bring the message of salvation to the ends of the earth. However, the life of a missionary often mirrors that of a soldier on the battlefield—courageous yet vulnerable, dedicated yet disconnected from their base. Many missionaries face moments of discouragement, exhaustion, and the temptation to give up.

God’s Call to Support Missionaries

At Shining Light Kingdom Builders Church, we believe God has sent us to uplift and encourage these missionaries. Our mission is to remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved by God. We carry the message of Jehovah El Roi—the God who sees (Genesis 16:7-13)—to assure them that their sacrifices are not unnoticed and that their eternal reward is secure. Through our ministry, we stand as a beacon of hope for these missionaries, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey of faith.

Shining Light Missionary Day

Four times a year, we host the Shining Light Missionary Day, a special event dedicated to honoring and celebrating the sacrificial lives of missionaries. This day serves as a platform to shed light on the unimaginable challenges they face and the incredible price they pay for the expansion of God’s Kingdom. Many of these missionaries work tirelessly in rural and underserved areas, enduring hardships that most of us cannot imagine.

During the event, we share stories, testimonies, and experiences from the mission fields, allowing others to witness firsthand the faith, perseverance, and dedication of these Kingdom ambassadors. It’s a time to reflect on their sacrifices and offer them the encouragement they need to continue their vital work.

Supporting Local and Global Missions

As a ministry, we are motivated by the belief that God has called us to be His hands and feet, fulfilling His good and perfect will on earth. This conviction drives us to actively support missionaries living in far and “forgotten” communities, ensuring they feel God’s love and presence through our efforts.

In addition to global missionary support, we also spearhead local missions within the Federal Capital Territory every two months. These missions aim to spread the gospel, provide aid, and bring hope to communities in need, demonstrating God’s love in tangible ways.

A Call to Partner in Missions

The work of missionaries is at the core of Kingdom expansion, and they need our support to continue. As a church, we invite you to join us in this vital mission. Whether through prayer, encouragement, or resources, your partnership can make a profound difference in the lives of those on the frontlines of spreading the gospel.

Let us continue to uplift these brave men and women, reminding them that God sees their sacrifices and that their labor in the Lord is never in vain. Together, we can be a light shining in the darkness, carrying forward the message of salvation to the ends of the earth.

First, we must understand church is not a building, a Sunday school class, or a service time. According to scripture, a church gathering is a group of people coming together in Christ and the people are the church. Jesus shows us in Matthew 18 that a gathering can be as little as two people together.

The service usually involves the singing of hymns, reading of scripture verses and possibly a psalm. If the church follows a lectionary, the sermon will often be about the scripture lections assigned to that day. Eucharistic churches have usually Holy Communion either every Sunday or several Sundays a month.

There are no rules as to what to bring to church, other than your self, an open heart and mind. Some bring a bible, if you’re going to engage in bible study.

If you want to know how to dress for church, something modest and comfortable should be fine. Generally, graphic tees that show off sports team logos or bands should never be worn to church. Solid-colored tops are fine, and even something with a pattern should be OK to wear.

Ask your friends if they have a place to worship the Savior and invite them to come worship with you, especially at times like Christmas and Easter. If they aren’t Christians, ask them if they’d like to learn more about Jesus Christ and invite them to experience a Christian worship service with you. Remember to show the same respect for their beliefs that you hope they will give yours.

There are many questions Christians are asked that the individual Christian is unable to answer. It happens all the time.
