Welcome to Kids Outreach Ministry!

Romans 10:13-15 (KJV)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"

About the Shining Light Kids Outreach (SLKO)

The Shining Light Kids Outreach (SLKO) is a transformative initiative dedicated to providing holistic educational support for the children of missionaries across West Africa. This program seeks to empower the next generation of missionaries by offering quality education, skill development, and holistic personal growth opportunities.

The aim of SLKO is to design and implement sustainable support systems that primarily focus on children of missionaries and, secondarily, on fostering family and community transformation. By partnering with missionary families and education providers, SLKO ensures these children receive the tools they need to thrive academically, spiritually, and socially, igniting the light of God within them.

Why SLKO?

  1. Missionaries Are Kingdom Builders:
Missionaries are at the forefront of advancing God’s Kingdom, often in challenging and remote areas. Their work is invaluable and sacrificial.

  2. Supporting Missionaries to Focus on Ministry:
By easing the burden of their children’s education, SLKO allows missionaries to concentrate fully on their calling without distractions.

  3. Ensuring Children of Missionaries Thrive:
SLKO ensures that children of missionaries do not suffer or “pay the price” for their parents’ dedication to God’s work.

  4. Raising the Next Generation of Missionaries:
By empowering these children, SLKO nurtures a new generation equipped to continue the legacy of Kingdom building.

Our Approach

1. School Fees and Resources

SLKO provides comprehensive academic support for children of missionaries, covering:

  • Target Group: Children of missionaries
  • Target Classes: Primary 1 to SSS 3
  • Funding Support:
    • Primary: N100,000 per annum
    • Secondary: N120,000 per annum
  • Offerings Include: Tuition, textbooks, stationery, school uniforms, and other essential academic supplies
2. Individualized Learning Support

To ensure each child achieves their full potential, SLKO assigns a Learning Support Officer (LSO) to monitor and guide their progress:

  • Tracks the academic, spiritual, and social development of each child
  • Sets personal academic and development targets for the child
  • Recommends interventions when necessary to address learning gaps
  • Identifies and nurtures the unique gifts and talents of every child
3. Hands-On Skills Acquisition

SLKO equips children with practical skills to foster independence and entrepreneurial spirit:

  • All beneficiaries learn at least one skill as part of their holistic development
  • This initiative prepares children to become financially independent in the future while igniting creativity and self-reliance
4. Summer Transformation Program

Every year, SLKO organizes a two-week Summer Transformation Program, a camp where children supported by the outreach experience intensive growth in various areas:

  • Spiritual Growth: Teaching about God’s love and fostering a deeper walk with Him
  • Life Skills: Public speaking, creativity, collaboration, patriotism, and leadership
  • Holistic Development: Through engaging sessions, mentorship, and activities

The program includes accommodations, meals, and all related expenses fully covered, ensuring that every child enjoys an enriching experience.

Guidelines

To ensure transparency and maximize impact, SLKO operates under the following guidelines:

  1. Missionary selection criteria will be clearly defined.
  2. Each child undergoes an entrance assessment to determine their current academic level. This test is not for selection but to monitor progress.
  3. Support is limited to two children per missionary family.
  4. SLKO directly pays all fees to the schools to ensure accountability.
  5. SLKO identifies reputable schools within each Local Government Area (LGA) to partner with, ensuring education within budget constraints.
  6. A budget of N120,000 per child per annum is allocated for direct school costs.
  7. Outstanding children will be recognized and rewarded for excellence in academic, spiritual, and personal development.

The Shining Light Kids Outreach (SLKO) is dedicated to fulfilling God’s vision of raising godly children who are well-equipped to shine His light in every area of their lives. By partnering with missionary families, we are investing in the future of God’s Kingdom and ensuring that no child is left behind in their pursuit of purpose and excellence.

First, we must understand church is not a building, a Sunday school class, or a service time. According to scripture, a church gathering is a group of people coming together in Christ and the people are the church. Jesus shows us in Matthew 18 that a gathering can be as little as two people together.

The service usually involves the singing of hymns, reading of scripture verses and possibly a psalm. If the church follows a lectionary, the sermon will often be about the scripture lections assigned to that day. Eucharistic churches have usually Holy Communion either every Sunday or several Sundays a month.

There are no rules as to what to bring to church, other than your self, an open heart and mind. Some bring a bible, if you’re going to engage in bible study.

If you want to know how to dress for church, something modest and comfortable should be fine. Generally, graphic tees that show off sports team logos or bands should never be worn to church. Solid-colored tops are fine, and even something with a pattern should be OK to wear.

Ask your friends if they have a place to worship the Savior and invite them to come worship with you, especially at times like Christmas and Easter. If they aren’t Christians, ask them if they’d like to learn more about Jesus Christ and invite them to experience a Christian worship service with you. Remember to show the same respect for their beliefs that you hope they will give yours.

There are many questions Christians are asked that the individual Christian is unable to answer. It happens all the time.
